KYC Regatta Week - Day 2 racing, Sunday 4th August

Yesterday saw the main fleets take to the water for the first time and what a sight to see - such colourful sails and so many boats!
After the success of the Seahorse Youth Regatta on Saturday, Keyhaven Week began for the adults on Sunday with a three race series sponsored by Hurst Marine. Thirty-six boats made their way out into to solent in light but strengthening SW breeze and sunshine.
In the Open fleet, the conditions generally suited the quicker boats but with 3 shortish races, results were very close. As the ebb tide strengthened, pushing the fleet upwind there was inevitably one general recall but otherwise the trapezoid course suited the mixed fleet.
In the end the ILCA 7 of Ian Sanderson edged out Cy Grisley's Finn from Ashton Dray also in an ILCA 7. There were close battles between the rest of the Lasers and also the 2000's.
In the Scow fleet, S Howell's consistency took the overall win with the battle of the couples for second just edged by Stuart and Paula Rowney from Nick and Amanda Langford on countback.
