KYC Paddlers

The KYC Paddlers Group offer an informal friendly & fun opportunity for anyone keen to pick up a paddle, be that on a kayak or a paddle board and join in with a group keen to support anyone new to paddling as well as those who are already going with the flow.

There will be regular local paddles within the river discovering creeks and wildlife often combined with refreshments at Hurst Castle Cafe as well as paddles slightly further afield including Lymington and Lentune Island! This year we may also attempt to sample other locations eg Christchurch or Poole Harbour. Meet-ups in 2024 will be organised via the KYC Paddlers WhatsApp Group for those who would like to come down and have a go, with support from experienced paddlers to enthuse and encourage anyone who is keen to get on the water.

We will be using a fleet of kayaks and boards including singles and doubles, as well as the new club kayaks and paddleboards which are available to rent. For those already set up and paddling, just add yourself to the What'sApp group, so should the weather and tide be right, there will be an impromptu 'shout out' to muster interested parties for some spontaneous paddling sessions. If you are wondering whether paddling is for you, think of it as a low impact, relaxing sport which develops your overall fitness, strengthens your core and allows you to mindfully enjoy your surroundings. Truly a sport accessible to everyone. Alternatively simply treat it as another way of getting to Hurst Castle for treats!
