KYC Paddlers

The KYC Paddlers group was set up to offer an informal friendly & fun opportunity for anyone keen to pick up a paddle, be that on a kayak or a paddleboard (SUP) and join in with a group keen to support anyone new to paddling as well as those a little more experienced.

Safety is obviously paramount and nobody is expected to paddle beyond their ability or experience.

Where does the group go? - the KYC paddlers explore both local creeks within the Keyhaven river getting close to local wildlife & often combining refreshments at Hurst Castle Cafe as well as paddles slightly further afield including Lymington and Lentune Island!

There may also be opportunities to sample other locations, for example Christchurch or Poole Harbour.

How does it work? - paddling sessions are organised via the KYC Paddlers WhatsApp group for those who would like to come down and have a go, with support from experienced paddlers to ensure anyone who is less experienced but keen to get on the water can do so in a safe environment.

The WhatsApp group can also be used for members to see if others may wish to join them even if a club event is not scheduled which is a great opportunity to meet new members of the club.

Do I need my own equipment? - paddlers can bring their own equipment or hire the clubs' fleet of single kayaks, a double kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP).

How do I get involved - simply add yourself to the Paddlers WhatsApp group via the Keyhaven Yacht Club WhatsApp Community, so should the weather and tide be right, there will be an impromptu 'shout out' to muster interested parties for some spontaneous paddling sessions.
