Late Series Morning 7 & 8 - Sunday 29th September 2024
Published 09:51 on 30 Sep 2024
Some hardy sailors joined us for this morning's sailing. Whilst drinking coffee and looking out the window, we wondered how many might turn up on a blustery morning. With one open sailor and some scow sailors appearing agreed to run a river race with the scow fleet.
Simon was a great sport and persuaded to join the fleet, and Matt T was stood down from support duties so he could also sail.... So 5 scows lined up ready for some fun racing in some breezy conditions. Two-double handers and three single-handers, all with reefs other than Simon.
The fleet set off down the main river and there was some close racing, but also some challenging conditions. With some bailing, a capsize and some fast racing (7.9knots recorded!) there were some tired and smiling people back in the clubhouse. It is safe to say that the cobwebs were well and truly blown away and everyone enjoyed a warming drink and chat!
Thanks as ever to the awesome support team in Matthew, Paula, Ginny, Guy and Toby.
