KYC Talk - Celebrating Railway 200

We welcome local train enthusiast, Philip Benstead to the club to give us a fascinating presentation on 'Building the 'direct line' to Bournemouth from 1883 - 1888. A tale of self interest, optimism, naivety, fraud, bankruptcy, incompetence, arrogance, violent deaths, royalty and religion with congratulations to the non-participants and ignorance of the achievers. The ten mile stretch of line running from Lymington Junction.
Timed to celebrate Railway 200, a nationwide event of the past, present and future of rail travel - 2025 is the 200th anniversary of the birth of modern railway.
