Safety Boat Skills » Boat Handling Refresher

In this Safety Boat skills session, we'll be working on core boat handling skills by practising coming alongside, picking up moorings and man overboard.

This will help to prepare you for future sessions that introduce new skills, such as towing, mark laying or capsize recovery. We'd suggest attending at least two of these boat handling refreshers if you are looking to attend an RYA Safety Boat course.

We'll also be covering some aspects of the RYA Safety Boat syllabus, allowing you to work towards the qualification in a modular way:

Knowledge of:

• Limitations of craft with high freeboard
• Hull types
• Drive types

Understands:

• The dangers of lee shores
