RYA Stage 1 provides youths with an introduction to the parts of the boat and the basic principles of how to get a boat sailing.
Course Contents
- Can assist with rigging, launching & recovery.
- Can tie some basic, essential knots.
- Can sail simple courses across the wind.
- Knows about the clothing needed and what to wear for different conditions.
- Understands the importance of staying with a capsized boat.
- Has a basic knowledge of the wind direction

8 years (we can accept those who are only slightly below the age of 8 if attending with others from their year group)
