Keyhaven Yacht Club hosted 26 Finn sailors for a weekend of challenging racing in the Solent last weekend.
The Masters series is split into age group classes, and included sailors aged over 80 in the Super Legends. Race Officer Nigel Walbank set challenging courses which lead to tight and exciting racing.
Day 1 (6th May) coincided with the Coronation, and the sailors were met by persistent rain and winds gusting up to Force 6. However 3 races were completed, with a remarkable performance by Nick Craig of Burghfield SC, near Reading, winning all 3.
Day 2 (7th May) weather improved, but winds were light initially before building to Force 4. John Greenwood of West Kirby SC won races 4 and 5 but was pipped by Lawrence Crispin of Stone SC in Race 6.
Overall winner was Nick Craig after his excellent effort in Day 1.
The leading Keyhaven sailor was Simon Moss who just edged out Peter Blick.
