Making the most of the weather for a Potter to Oxey Lake - 12th April 2024

Published 10:27 on 15 Apr 2024

The weather relented and gave us almost perfect weather for our first joint Potter of the season.

There was a good breeze and the sun shone some of the time. Eight boats set off (7 scows and 1 Wanderer) with three support boats in attendance. A good brisk run down the Solent meant we arrived at Oxey a bit early and getting ashore was a trifle muddy! We sat in the sun and ate our picnics and waited for the tide to come in a bit so that we could get off on the shingle. As the wind had strengthened a little some put in reefs for the beat back home. Everyone got back safely and had enjoyed the sail.

Very grateful thanks to Janet and Liz and to Nick and his crew (sorry not sure of your name) who really made my job so much easier by knowing exactly, not only what they had to do, but also what I needed to do! And thanks to everyone who turned out. We were even welcomed back by Sammy!
