Sea Shanties, Supper and Smiles
Published 20:13 on 6 Aug 2026
To an audience of over 60, seven Salty Singers performed a dozen songs of the sea and shanties that had everyone joining in the choruses on Tuesday evening.
Billed as participative singing some tunes were long-standing favourites and some were new music to the audience. Every chorus was sung with gusto. So within 50 minutes, the programme came to end with a loud rendition of Sloop John B. All in good time for the superb lasagne supper faultlessly served by a team of KYC volunteers. A big thanks to the Salty Singers (led by Chris Caswell) and huge gratitude to the chef of the evening Sam Whatley and his team for an excellent meal. A perfect way to end a vigorous successful day on the water.
