Our younger members brought the weather for their first meet of the season!

Published 14:59 on 3 Mar 2025

Yesterday morning saw members of our Salterns & Junior sections bring their homemade boats made from recycled materials with the sole purpose of racing! Excitement built as more youngsters started to arrive, and the weather gods were definitely on our side. The North Easterly wind direction meant that we had to start on the eastern side of the river, setting the record fleet of 19 boats free to make their way back over to quay wall. It was a close run race at times, with fewer capsizes than previous years although a fair amount of hazardous negotiating around moored boats, thanks to our on water marshals!

This is our 3rd annual regatta and we are in awe of the designs this year! Well done to all who took part, and congratulations go to brother and sister team, Luke and Maggie Kelly who took first place this year.
