Seasonal Ying Yang Yoga with Petra - Starts Wednesday 5th October

Published 11:30 on 27 Sep 2022

Yoga with Petra is back from Wednesday 5th October, 5pm-6pm.

All the practises are based on the wisdom and knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine that we as Human Beings are a microcosm of the macrocosm.

We are a mirror of what is happening outside us.

All our organs corresponds to one of the Five Elements of the annual season. Our negative emotions and qualities are anchored with those organs

Element Wood - Spring - liver and gallbladder - emotions; anger, impatience and frustration/ quality of kindness, empathy and patience

Element Fire - Early summer - pericardium (the muscle around the ) and triple burner (regulating our body temperature)

Element Fire - Summer - Heart and small intestine - emotions of sadness, jealousy and hastiness/ cultivating love & joy

Element Earth - Late Summer - Spleen and stomach for Late Summer - emotions of worries and overthinking/ cultivating trust, self-worth and stability

Element Metal - Autumn - Lungs and large intestine for Autumn - emotions of grief and regrets/ cultivating abundance, gratitude and contentment

Element Water - Winter - Kidneys and urinary bladder - emotions of fear and anxiety/ cultivating wisdom, willpower and knowledge

All the warm-ups, moves, flows and postures of YinYang Yoga will reflect the organs of the year.

In YinYang Yoga & pranayama &Yoga Nidra practices, the Yin poses will cleanse, tonify, balance and cultivate the meridian lines of these seasonal organs - it's like acupuncture without needles.

&

The Yang poses and flows will flush out the stagnant energy, energising the body with fresh air

&

Pranayama - awareness and cultivating breathing techniques throughout the practice

&

Closing with a seasonal themed Yoga Nidra meditation (1/4 hour yoga nidra equals 1 hours sleep)

Yoga Nidra Meditation is the 'art of doing nothing' to allow your body, mind & soul to rest, repair & heal itself. We connect to a higher consciousness where questions are answered, intentions are realised and prayers heard. Nidra sharpens the mind and stimulates the third eye chakra by allowing to see clearing and objectively and make better choices in life.

Traditional Chinese medicine has helped transform people's health and well-being for over 2500 years.
