Do you know how to respond to a medical emergency on or around the water? Could you confidently perform CPR, or recognise and treat cold water shock?
The RYA First Aid Course is designed specifically for boaters and those spending time by the water. This one-day course combines practical, hands-on training with essential theory, giving you the skills and confidence to deal with real-life situations.
Topics covered include:
- The recovery position
- CPR
- Drowning
- Cold water shock and hypothermia
- Seasickness and dehydration
- Requesting medical advice and assistance by VHF
- Helicopter rescue procedures
We still have a couple of spaces available on the upcoming course, which will be held at Keyhaven Yacht Club on Saturday 28th February, starting at 9.00am.
The course costs £75 per person for members and is an invaluable addition to your boating knowledgewhether you're regularly afloat or supporting others from shore.
