Hamble Rally Sunshine, Showers and Plenty of Laughter. 2nd - 4th May 2026

Published 10:52 on 12 May 2026

Fourteen boats made the trip to this year's Hamble Rally plus us, as our boat is already based at Mercury on the Hamble!

With light winds and occasional sunshine, crews drifted and motored their way upriver during the afternoon. A heavy downpour arrived around 2:30pm, but by then everyone was safely tucked up in Port Hamble Marina.

The evening began at the RAF Club from 6pm (or slightly earlier for some crews!) where, despite the chill, we were able to sit outside for drinks and catch up with friends old and new. The sun even made a brief appearance to round off the day nicely.

Supper was served promptly at 7pm, with the now traditional menu of lasagne followed by fruit crumble or an excellent pavlova all superbly catered by Morven at Bespoke Dining. Every plate was cleared, with some good-natured competition over the final portions of crumble! Tea and coffee rounded off the evening perfectly.

As always, the Hamble Rally proved that you don't need complicated plans for a successful weekend away just good food, good company, a bit of sailing and plenty of fun and frivolity.

A big thank you to the RAF Club for their usual warm welcome, organisation and hospitality throughout the evening.

Most boats headed home with Sunday's midday tide and, as Tim Biggs neatly summed up:

"Perfect sail back 78 knots in a 12k breeze."

What more could you ask for?

We're already looking forward to next year's rally on May 1st same place, same food, same formula!
