Junior Sailing Report - Saturday 14th September

Published 09:40 on 19 Sep 2024
The late summer sun was very much welcomed by 17 of the Juniors last Saturday! Despite barely any breeze for the 9 club dinghies out, the ebb tide and a paddle or two just about secured a slow drift away from the slipway and towards the spit. Some held onto just enough of the easterly puffs to sail all the way, whilst some others benefited briefly from their tow lines to get moving again!
There was certainly no fear of getting wet in the calm and sunshine, demonstrated admirably by the enthusiasm shown to voluntarily capsize and right in several groups inside the end of the spit! If it weren't for the Hurst lighthouse reminding of our location, you could have been forgiven for thinking that Junior Sailing was in the Mediterranean such was the clear warm water and clear blue sky!
Later the slight breeze tracked south whilst made for a very leisurely sailing return back up the main channel against the tide to the slipway. Well done to all those who kept their boats moving in the very light wind!
Thank you to the Junior Sailing Group for the photographs from this session - the drone footage is spectacular!
