Recycled Regatta Success!
Published 11:09 on 23 Mar 2026
This past Saturday saw the return of our Recycled Regatta, and it was classic Junior Sailing weather glorious sunshine and just enough breeze to get the fleet moving.
To suit the wind direction, sailors carried their boats across to the sea wall path opposite the club before launching at the water's edge. The finish line was set along the wall by Lower Pennington Lane, creating a fun and slightly different course for competitors.
Nearly 20 boats took to the water, with an impressive mix of creativity on display. Some sailors returned with last year's boats, others had made clever modifications in hopes of better performance, and a few ambitious builders even constructed their boats from scratch that very morning!
Alongside the competitors, several families came along simply to spectate and soak up the atmosphere, making it a great event for everyone involved.
After racing, everyone gathered back at the club for a successful BBQ, giving members and families a chance to enjoy a relaxed pre-season catch-up.
A special thank you goes to PC Sean Woodward, who joined us to present the trophy and delighted the children by giving them a look around his police car.
