Regatta Week 2022
Published 14:51 on 12 Sep 2022
This year's Regatta Week was very successful, taking place over six days and combining all the sailing sections of the Club. Twickenham Yacht Club came down on their annual trip, with several of their members enjoying the freedom of sailing on open waters.
The Pirates Day was as popular as ever with the Juniors, with a Pirate Ship anchored off the Club pontoon the highlight was getting the Commodore Andy Ash-Vie to walk the plank!
The weather throughout the week gave the race management team plenty of headaches with varying wind conditions and speeds, which resulted in completing the weeks racing all bar one race.
The structure of the week was based on handicap racing with Gold and Silver Fleets combining with a Youth Fleet racing every day in the Solent. On three days we had separate racing for the Juniors and the GSG [Get Sailing Group].
Full results are available on the website under Racing / Race Reports and Results or by clicking here.
At the end of the week, the Prize Giving was held with special Legend awards to Malcolm Lee KYC and David Wolsey TYC and Special Boat of the Week award to Tim Reed.
The Club are very grateful to all our sponsors - Harken UK, Seahorse International, Hurst Marine and West Solent Boat Builders.
See you all again next year!
Thank you, Colin Dunford
