And the sun was shining for the start of Keyhaven Regatta Week!

Published 17:51 on 9 Aug 2025

What more could we ask for?! Great conditions yesterday morning, albeit a tad windy as the session went on, as we kicked off Keyhaven Regatta Week with the Seahorse Magazine Junior Regatta.

Our regular Junior Sailing group took to the water on Saturday marking the launch of Keyhaven Regatta Week!

Spread across 10 club dinghies, the 22 juniors confidently sailed themselves from the Keyhaven slipway, navigated the main river, and arrived with ease to a destination marker buoy laid in the lee of Hurst Castle.

The breeze meanwhile, which had started as westerly 10-15 knots, soon became southwest 15-20 knots, which made for some exciting reaching across the flat waters of the Keyhaven river inside the natural shingle surrounds of Hurst Spit!

Whilst some calmly recovered from the odd capsize, another sailed an Optimist all the way to the Spit unaided for the first time, and the Zests harnessed the breeze and held on admirably to experience some speed, each and every youngster arrived back to the clubhouse with a new tale and achievement, made with their friends, the boats and an adventurous sail to remember!
