Challenging Conditions for Spring Series 9 & 10 - Sunday 10th May

Published 15:17 on 14 May 2026

Light rain and a cool easterly Force 5 kept entries slightly lower than usual, with a single fleet of Lasers and 2000s taking to the start line at 1600 for what became a true battle of attrition in strengthening winds and increasingly choppy seas.

Only four boats completed the first race, with Ashton Dray leading the fleet home in his Laser ahead of Tim Reed and Claire Lee in their 2000. Gear failures and capsizes took their toll throughout the fleet as conditions steadily worsened.

The second race was shortened slightly, with Ashton once again taking the win from Tim and Claire. Behind them, under the watchful eye of the support crews, several competitors showed real determination to finish despite multiple capsizes in the demanding conditions.

A huge thank you to all the race team and support boats for their dedication today!

Ian Sanderson, Race Officer
