Midweek Racing #3 (Friday Edition!) 8th May
Published 14:22 on 14 May 2026
Glorious sunshine and a light to moderate south-easterly breeze brought 25 boats to the start line for this week's midweek race held on a Friday this time due to the tides.
Competitors enjoyed a short tacking battle out through Hawkers before settling into several laps of a windward-leeward course, finishing back at the club.
In the Slow Handicap fleet, Andy Ash-Vie led the fleet home ahead of Kevin Dry, with the first non-scow being the Comet Versa sailed by Richard and Finn Erskine.
In the Open fleet, Anthony Oliver's Laser took the win from Ashton Dray, followed by the 2000 sailed by John Turner and Rob Tarbard.
After racing, competitors retired to the club lawn for a well-earned pasty and a pint in the evening sunshine.
Thank you to all volunteers without whom these races could not happen.
